Today, Luke is delighted to announce that Government have signed-off on much-awaited track-1 East Coast Cluster carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) projects.

This means unlocking billions of pounds of private sector investment in green jobs here on Teesside. 4,000 jobs will be directly created in two clusters in Teesside and at HyNet in Merseyside, with 50,000 further jobs supported in the long-term across both sites.

As the co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on CCUS, Luke has been working closely with the sector and with ministers to champion Teesside as a key industrial cluster, and is delighted that our region will be leading the world with deploying this game-changing technology at scale. We are perfectly positioned for these jobs, which will attract £8 billion in private investment and accelerate the UK towards net zero.
