Asda’s Community Initiatives Making a Difference in Our Area

Luke recently received an update from Asda on their latest community initiatives, and wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the fantastic work they are doing to support local schools, families, and children.

One of the standout programs is the Cashpot for Schools initiative, which has already raised an impressive £1.75 million for schools across the UK, including £4077.18 for schools right here in Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland. This initiative is making up to £7.5 million available to primary schools, with Asda shoppers able to raise money for their chosen school until the end of November. It’s a great way for parents to directly contribute to their children’s education, helping to address the funding gap many schools are currently facing.

But that’s not all – Asda is also running a Children’s Book Project to tackle book poverty. One in five disadvantaged children in the UK doesn’t own a book, which can significantly impact their development. Throughout September, Asda stores are hosting book drives where customers can donate pre-loved children’s books, which will then be redistributed to families in need. This is a brilliant way to give books a second life and ensure more children can experience the joy of reading.

Additionally, Asda is responding to the cost-of-living pressures many families face with their School Uniform Drive. Throughout September, stores are collecting pre-loved school uniforms to help those struggling with back-to-school costs. These uniforms will be distributed to local groups, supporting families who need a little extra help.

Luke is really pleased to see Asda taking such a proactive role in supporting our communities. Whether through cash for schools, access to books, or helping with uniforms, these initiatives are making a real difference.

If you’d like to get involved or learn more, be sure to visit your local Asda store or check out their website for more information on how to donate. It’s fantastic to see businesses stepping up in these challenging times and making such a positive impact.

Let’s all do our part to support these efforts and help our community thrive!
