Blue Badge secured for Hemlington man

17 June 2026

A Hemlington man has been granted a Blue Badge after Luke Myer MP stepped in following the refusal of his original application.

The constituent is physically disabled and experiences difficulties carrying shopping and accessing local amenities. His wife contacted Luke after his application for a Blue Badge was turned down.

Luke asked Middlesbrough Council to review the case and ensure the impact of the constituent’s disability on his day-to-day life was properly considered. The council helped him apply under different criteria and, just days later, the Blue Badge was granted. His wife said it would make a “massive difference” to his quality of life.

Anyone needing help can email luke.myer.mp@parliament.uk, visit Luke’s Guisborough constituency office, or book a face-to-face appointment at lukemyer.uk/surgeries.
