Daffodil Sunday

Today (24 March 2024) Luke visited Skelton Castle for Daffodil Sunday.

The annual event is the only time in the year when residents and visitors are able to enjoy the grounds of the castle – including the woodland, wildflowers and the daffodil displays.

Luke thanked the grounds team Kevin, Damian and Rowland along with the volunteers from the Friends of Skelton Community Orchard, Skelton Villages Civic Pride. Through selling tickets and managing the tombola, a total of £5,453 was raised for FOSCO and SVCP.

Luke said: “It was wonderful to be in Skelton for Daffodil Sunday at Skelton Castle – the weather was perfect and the grounds looked beautiful. We enjoyed great music from Tees Components Brass Band, and had a very interesting conversation with Peter Appleton from Skelton History Group about the history of the Castle.

“Thank you to Anthony Wharton and his team for a fantastic day, raising money for good causes. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful place here in our area.”
