Former Student Luke Myer MP meets Prior Pursglove political students

It was a special return to Prior Pursglove College for local MP Luke Myer, who joined Politics students on the 8th November for a lively and engaging discussion. As an alumnus of the college, Luke relished the chance to connect with current students, answering their questions and exchanging views on a wide range of local and national issues.

The session provided a platform for an insightful dialogue, with students demonstrating keen curiosity and thoughtful engagement. Discussions touched on topics from the economy to foreign policy. Luke highlighted standout moments, including a thoughtful exploration of Gordon Brown’s record on child poverty and pointed questions about economic priorities for Teesside. The depth and focus of their questions underscored the potential of a new generation of leaders invested in shaping the future of the country.

Reflecting on the experience, Luke Myer MP said, “It was an absolute pleasure to meet with the Politics students at Prior Pursglove. Their enthusiasm, insight, and willingness to tackle tough issues was truly impressive. I have no doubt many of them will play important roles in shaping our nation’s future.”

Luke was joined by his colleague Jack McKenna, another alumnus, who shared his personal journey into a political career and offered practical advice for students aspiring to follow a similar path. The visit proved mutually inspiring, with students and staff expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to engage directly with their local representatives.

Special thanks were given to staff members Libby and Jill for facilitating the event. Both Luke Myer and Jack McKenna look forward to seeing how these promising students make their mark in years to come.
