Luke Myer MP has paid tribute to local people recognised in His Majesty the King’s 2026 New Year Honours for their service to our communities across Teesside.
Among those honoured are:
- Ishy Din (MBE), Playwright and Screenwriter, Middlesbrough, for services to the arts and young people in the North East
- Lynn Pallister (MBE), Social Enterprise Manager, Future Regeneration of Grangetown (FROG), Grangetown, for services to social enterprise
- Allison McKay (MBE), Chief Executive, The Forum Music Centre, Darlington, for services to music
- Debra Fixter (BEM), Founder, Sprouts Community Food Charity, for services to the community in Stockton-on-Tees
- Clare McCullagh (BEM), Nursery Director, Rosedene Nurseries Limited, for services to early years education.
Luke Myer MP said:
“These honours are a reminder that Teesside is full of people who get on with the job, day in and day out, and make life better for others. From early years and the arts, to public service and community support, every one of these recipients has helped strengthen the fabric of our region. Congratulations to all!”
Luke is proud to represent two of Rosedene’s nurseries in Guisborough and Easterside, and he knows first hand how much early years staff do for families, often behind the scenes. He also welcomed the recognition for Lynn Pallister, a long standing friend from their time serving as Labour councillors in Redcar and Cleveland.
Luke also congratulated Jayne Ozanne, a campaigner for LGBTQ+ Christians, with whom Luke worked on his debate last year on safeguarding in the Church of England. Jayne was awarded an OBE.

The particular focus of the New Year Honours this year is on those who have gone above and beyond for their communities. From foster carers to health workers, Lionesses to Red Roses as well as champions of the arts and supporters of young people, this year’s recipients reflect the values that bind Britain together – decency, compassion and a belief in the common good.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer said:
“This year’s Honours list celebrates the very best of Britain – people who put the common good ahead of themselves to strengthen communities and change lives.Their quiet dedication speaks to the decent, compassionate country we are proud to be. On behalf of the whole nation, thank you – and congratulations to everyone recognised today.”
