Labour brings new era for Middlesbrough’s Municipal Golf Centre

Middlesbrough’s Municipal Golf Centre at Ladgate Lane is set to enter an exciting new chapter.

The venue, which first opened in 1977, comprises an 18-hole, 6,326-yard, par 71 golf course, a 20-bay floodlit driving range, practice facilities, and a clubhouse.

Middlesbrough Council has now selected LinkGolf UK as the site’s new operator. The operator will support the new introduction of TrackMan Range technology, a new cafe/bar, and a youth academy on the site.

The operator will be required to maintain the centre as a pay-to-play facility, meaning anyone can visit.

Middlesbrough Mayor, Chris Cooke, said: “I’m really pleased to welcome Link Golf UK as the new operator of Middlesbrough’s much-loved Municipal Golf Centre – one of the real jewels in our sporting crown.

Whether you’re a beginner picking up a club for the first time or a seasoned player out to refine your swing – this is about delivering high-quality, affordable golf for everyone in Middlesbrough.”

Luke Myer MP said: “I’m proud that we have this golf centre in South Middlesbrough – originally set up so the everyday man on the street could enjoy all the benefits of a private golf club without having to pay private golf club prices.”

“Thanks to our strong local Labour team working together, this change of management should mean an exciting new chapter for the site.”
