Luke Myer MP visited James Cook University Hospital today to thank nurses for their work caring for patients.

During the visit, Luke met South Tees Director of Nursing Amy Oxley along with frontline nurses working across the hospital, including Fiona and Leanna, who help run the trust’s patient flow command centre – a technology-driven hub coordinating the movement and care of hundreds of patients every day.

The visit also highlighted some of the innovations being introduced at James Cook to improve patient care and reduce pressure on busy wards. Since Labour took office in 2024, waiting lists have fallen across the country for the first time in 15 years, down by 374,000 and the lowest for around 3 years. Luke praised staff for their professionalism, compassion and commitment to patients across Teesside.
