Luke was invited by the team at KTS Academy in Brotton to visit, and see the school’s work offering specialist educational provision for pupils from 3 to 19 years.

He met staff and pupils, answering their questions about his own background in education and experiences as a politician today.

Luke said: “It was so lovely to be invited by the team at KTS Academy in Brotton to visit – the school does excellent work providing specialist provision for pupils. I know the school well, as my old primary St Peter’s is just next door.

“I was really impressed by the staff, who showed incredible teaching expertise, dealing with a wide range of needs and putting their students first. All of the young people I met were so welcoming and full of questions and ideas.”
