Luke visits Teesside University to discuss Education & Skills

Luke visited Teesside University, to discuss with Vice-Chancellor Paul Croney and senior leaders about how the Government can boost education & skills and help local people into work.

Luke previously worked in the higher education sector, helping to change the law on education standards. He believes that education has the power to change lives and open doors – as well as providing over 3,000 direct jobs. As the MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, Luke is committed to work with the University and our local schools and colleges to ensure people are well-prepared with the skills they need for successful careers.

The University contributes over £160m to the local economy every year, and 43% of its students come from the local area. Many of Teesside’s graduates go on to work within our local NHS trusts and creative industries – as well as policing and judiciary services. Luke looks forward to working with Prof. Croney and his team to deliver for our region
