Recognising major local employers and the people behind them

6 August 2025

Luke Myer MP visited Tesco in Coulby Newham to meet with the store’s management and frontline staff, and to thank them for the vital role they play in the local community. With over 260 employees, the store is one of the area’s largest employers and a key part of the local economy.

During the visit, Luke spoke with the team about the challenges facing large retail operations and what support he can offer as the local MP. He also heard about the store’s community work, from foodbank collections to partnerships with schools and local charities, which helps support residents and families across Coulby Newham.

Luke said:
“Like so many large workplaces, the success of this store depends on the dedication of its staff. From keeping shelves stocked to supporting local causes, they make a real difference. A big thank you to Michelle, Debbie, David and the whole team and to everyone working hard across our local retail sector.”
