Donations of MP’s pay rises

MP’s pay is not decided by MPs, Government or Parliament. It is decided by an independent body called the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority. IPSA was created in 2010 after the expenses scandal, to independently regulate, audit, and publish MPs’ costs.

I do not agree with giving MPs a pay rise at this time. I think it is absurd for MPs to be given a pay rise during a cost of living crisis. In 2025, I committed to donate this to local good causes, and below is a regularly updated list so you can hold me to account – and show I put my money where my mouth is.

Current total donations/sponsorships: £3,237.50

Spring 2025:

  • Brotton Improvement Group
  • Guisborough in Bloom

Summer 2025:

  • James Cook Lung Cancer Unit
  • Cleveland Pride
  • Guisborough Town FC

Autumn 2025:

  • Bus to Flamingo Land for disabled children, organised by local business
