An Easterside woman has received £150 compensation from the DWP after Luke Myer MP stepped in over errors which caused her significant distress.

The constituent had successfully appealed a decision only to later receive an incorrect letter telling her that her appeal had been refused. Luke raised the case directly with the DWP and pressed for answers over what had gone wrong. Following an investigation, the Department acknowledged the error, corrected its correspondence and agreed a consolatory payment.

The constituent’s partner later confirmed the money had been paid, thanking Luke and his team for their help. The DWP also confirmed that lessons from the case would be shared with staff to help prevent similar mistakes affecting other people.
