Sofa-surfing ended for Guisborough woman as Luke helps secure home

Luke Myer MP helped a Guisborough woman move into a permanent home after months of insecurity and growing anxiety about her safety. She had been sleeping on a friend’s sofa in a property repeatedly targeted by antisocial behaviour, all while managing long-term health and mental-health problems.

After Luke and his team raised the case with the council’s homelessness department and pressed for her needs to be properly reflected in her assessment, she was offered a ground-floor flat in Guisborough as a direct let. She has now moved in and finally has a safe, stable place of her own.

Luke continues to support residents facing homelessness or unsafe housing situations, ensuring councils and providers act quickly when vulnerable people are at risk. Anyone needing help can email luke.myer.mp@parliament.uk, visit Luke’s Guisborough office, or book a face-to-face appointment at lukemyer.uk/surgeries.
