Luke Myer MP has supported cross-party parliamentary motions calling for stronger action against the Iranian regime and support for the Iranian people in their struggle for a democratic society.
The motions, signed by MPs from across the political spectrum, reflect growing concern in Parliament about human rights abuses, regional instability, and the role of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Motion 2566, supported by all major parties except Reform, expresses strong support for the Iranian people, recognising their courage in the face of oppression and calling for continued backing of democratic movements.
Motion 2891, supported by Labour, Reform, DUP and Conservative MPs, calls for the IRGC to be formally proscribed as a terrorist organisation under UK law, citing its role in repression within Iran and its support for violent proxy groups abroad.
The motions build on wider calls in Parliament for the UK to stand firmly with those pushing for democracy and freedom, while continuing to work with allies to uphold our values and taking a robust approach to state-backed threats to security.
