Many residents have been raising the impact of heavy rainfall and flooding in Loftus, Skinningrove and Carlin How.
Luke said: “The response from some partner organisations, particularly Loftus Town Council and the Fire Brigade, has been excellent. But some residents have been very badly affected, and do not feel the early warning alerts are working sufficiently or the local infrastructure is equipped to handle so much rainfall.”
Luke has convened a meeting between the Environment Agency, the Cabinet Member responsible at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, and Loftus ward councillors to help work together to push for better support and flood resilience measures. New actions including the installation of property-level protections such as floodgates will be taking place over coming weeks.
