Luke Myer MP has praised Boosbeck youngster Freya, who has raised over £500 for children’s cancer causes by cutting off her hair and donating it to the Princess Trust.

Freya’s mum Kayleigh Sanderson runs TreasureKins, the family Boosbeck business creating handmade gifts and home fragrances.

Kayleigh said:

“I am so proud of my amazing daughter Freya-Mae. Anyone who knows her knows how much she loves her hair and spends hours styling it on herself, her family and her styling heads, always dreaming of making it a career one day.

Freya made the brave decision to cut her hair short to help children with cancer. Her hair was donated in four pieces to the Little Princess Trust so it can be made into wigs, and in just a few days before her haircut she also raised over £500 in sponsorship.

For Freya, at only 13 years old, this was such a huge step but such a kind and generous act. I am so proud of her, she really suits her new style, and I want to thank everyone who has supported her fundraising. She has done something truly wonderful and deserves a massive well done.”

Freya said:

“I have a passion for designing hair and love to create new styles. I spend alot of time on my hair but decided I wanted to brave the chop and help Children with Cancer. Cancer is a terrible illness and I have lost family close to my heart. I wanted to raise money and donate my hair to try and help when I received my pack it says your not just helping children by donating hair your brining confidence and a smile to their face and thats what i wanted to do.”

Luke Myer MP said:
“Freya has shown amazing bravery and kindness. Cutting off her hair and raising hundreds of pounds for such an important cause will make a real difference to children who need it most. She should be really proud of herself for such a generous act.”

TreasureKins has grown into a valued part of the local community, with Kayleigh and her family balancing running the shop alongside getting involved with community causes, alongside raising her three children and overcoming significant health challenges. Freya’s fundraising continues this family tradition of creativity and generosity.
