New Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee brings named officers for every community

27th August 2025

Residents across Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland now have a named neighbourhood policing contact under the new national Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee.

The Guarantee, launched by the Home Office in April 2025, commits every police force to provide named, contactable neighbourhood officers in each community, backed by £100 million in funding and a new national performance framework. It is further reinforced through measures in the Government’s Crime and Policing Bill, which strengthens powers to tackle anti-social behaviour and sets expectations for visible local patrols. Together, these changes mean residents now have a clear point of contact and the reassurance that neighbourhood policing must be visible, accessible and accountable.

For Cleveland Police, this means communities can find out who their neighbourhood officer is by visiting cleveland.police.uk, selecting “Find Your Area,” entering their postcode and clicking on “On The Team.”

Luke Myer MP said:
“Neighbourhood policing is at its best when officers are visible and accessible. This new guarantee means every community will have a named contact they can turn to, which is a long overdue step in rebuilding trust and confidence in local policing. I encourage residents to check the Cleveland Police website to see who their contact is and make use of this service.”

For non-emergency issues, residents can still call 101 or use the COPA app, and in an emergency they should always dial 999.
