Christmas Parking in Guisborough

Good news for Guisborough!

Residents will be pleased to hear that the council has confirmed the implementation of its free parking plans in time for the festive season, following a push for action led by local representative Luke Myer MP.

The move aims to support local businesses and encourage greater footfall during the holiday season, providing a boost to the town’s economy at a crucial time.

After writing to Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and holding meetings with the Cabinet Member for Highways & Transport at urging swift action, Luke Myer MP announced that free car parking would be in place from 1st to 31st December. The offering is free afternoon parking from 1pm onwards in selected car parks across Guisborough.

The initiative goes beyond previous provisions, extending free parking throughout the afternoons rather than limiting it to a single hour. One hour parking is being prepared for all mornings across all specific car parks and should be ready for a date soon to begin in December. New parking machines have also been ordered and will be operational in the new year.

The specific car parks included in the scheme are:

  • Church Square
  • Reid Terrace
  • Fountain Street East & West
  • Patten Lane

Luke Myer MP expressed his enthusiasm about the initiative, saying, “I am thrilled that these free parking measures have been agreed for the Christmas season. This will help drive footfall to our wonderful local businesses and give people more opportunity to enjoy all that Guisborough has to offer. I hope to see many residents and visitors out and about doing their Christmas shopping and enjoying the festive spirit.”

With this initiative, Luke applauds the measures to make it easier for shoppers to visit the town, supporting local businesses and fostering a vibrant community atmosphere during the holiday period.
