Could you shape Park End’s £20m future?

27 March 2026

Residents and community leaders in Park End are being urged to step forward and help shape the future of their area, as applications open for a key leadership role overseeing £20 million of investment over the next decade.

The funding comes through the Labour Government’s Pride in Place programme, which will see Park End benefit from long-term investment to support regeneration, strengthen communities and improve opportunities for local people. A new Neighbourhood Board will be established to lead this work, with a Chair now being recruited to guide the vision and bring the community together.

Could you chair the board?

The Neighbourhood Board will work directly with residents to develop a plan to set out how the £20 million will be spent. This could include investment in housing, education, jobs and local businesses, health and wellbeing, transport, community support and neighbourhood safety – ensuring decisions are shaped by local priorities, not imposed from outside. Applicants for the Chair role should either live in Park End or have strong ties to the area, such as through local business, education or community work. The role calls for someone trusted and respected locally, who understands the needs of the community and can bring people together to make sure as many voices as possible are heard in shaping the plan.

Expressions of interest are open now and must be submitted by 24 April 2026 via email to prideinplace@middlesbrough.gov.uk. Applicants are asked to outline why they care about the future of Park End, how they will build trust with residents, and how they will ensure meaningful community involvement. Luke Myer MP will sit on the panel to help shortlist and appoint the new Chair alongside local partners.

MP for Middlesbrough South & East Cleveland, Luke Myer MP said:

This is a real chance for the people of Park End to take control of Park End’s future. £20 million is a significant investment, but what matters most is that local people decide how it’s spent. I’d encourage anyone with the passion and commitment to step forward and play a leading role in shaping the next decade for their community.

Secretary of State for Housing, Communities & Local Government, Steve Reed OBE, said:

“2026 is going to be a fantastic year for Park End – because your Labour MP Luke Myer has secured £20 million pounds for your area, and this is the year when you can help decide how that money is spent. That’s the difference a hardworking Labour MP like Luke can make for your community.”
