Redcar & Cleveland’s Labour Council has launched a new online directory of dog-friendly places to visit across the borough.
The guide brings together cafés, pubs, attractions, hotels, guest houses and holiday lets that welcome dogs, helping residents and visitors plan days out without leaving their four-legged friends behind. Visitors can check out dedicated pages for East Cleveland, Guisborough and Redcar.
Venues range from beautiful outdoor tourist sites like Gisborough Priory, Guisborough Forest and Walkway, or Saltburn Cliff Lift and Pier, to small independent businesses like the Loftus Club, Brass Monkey, or Talking Tides Taproom in Marske. Luke is a dog owner and proud to support local independent businesses, helping Talking Tides with their planning application last year to open the new taproom.
Deputy Leader of the Council, Cllr Carrie Richardson, said:
“Dogs are part of the family as far as we’re concerned in Redcar and Cleveland. I’m a dog lover myself and I know that elsewhere in the country it’s not always easy to find places welcoming for loved animals…but that’s not the case here. I’d say to anyone in the region and from further afield who want a break but can’t be without their beloved dog that you’re very welcome – come and join the fun in Redcar and Cleveland.”
Seasonal dog restrictions remain in place on part of Saltburn beach between 1 May and 30 September, though dogs can still be walked on leads along the promenade.
