A Guisborough dad-of-four can now bid for a bigger family home after Luke Myer MP stepped in over his housing application.

The constituent was living in a one-bedroom flat and had only been allowed to bid for two-bedroom properties, despite regularly having his four children to stay. His eldest son had even stopped staying overnight because there wasn’t enough room.

Luke challenged the decision with Beyond Housing and asked for the family’s circumstances to be reviewed. The housing provider changed his entitlement to three-bedroom properties, giving the family a better chance of finding a suitable home. The dad thanked Luke for his help, saying: “Myself and my boys can’t thank you enough.”
