Today (11 August 2026) Luke Myer MP met East Durham Veterans Trust to discuss expanding veteran support across East Cleveland and Middlesbrough. The meeting followed Luke’s previous calls for better local provision and concerns that veterans in East Cleveland can face long journeys to access the support they need.

Last year, Luke brought the Government’s Veterans Minister to Guisborough to listen to local veterans and organisations supporting them. He has consistently supported more provision for veteran welfare, including the Healthier Heroes Morgan House project in Boosbeck.

Discussions with EDT covered mental health, access to services and the need for stronger local support across Teesside, particularly in communities where provision is currently limited. Luke will continue working with local and regional organisations to press for better and more accessible support for veterans across the constituency.

“I want to see veterans in East Cleveland and South Middlesbrough able to access good quality support closer to home, worthy of their service to our country.“
