Repairs secured for disabled Skelton residents after months of delays
Luke Myer MP has secured long-overdue action for a disabled man in Skelton and his elderly mother after they spent months struggling to get a dangerously deteriorating garden fence repaired. The family had repeatedly been told that the repair had been passed to a contractor, only for the contractor to confirm no job had ever been logged.
After Luke intervened with Beyond Housing, the organisation finally inspected the property and agreed to carry out repairs, including replacing several damaged posts to make the fence secure again. The work is now scheduled, giving the family the certainty and dignity they had been asking for all year.
Although the issue may seem small on paper, for this family it affected day-to-day safety, independence, and peace of mind—and repeated delays and conflicting information had left them feeling completely abandoned. Luke continues to press housing providers to deliver timely and reliable repairs, particularly for disabled residents and carers who rely on safe, stable homes.
