Following the recent illegal entry and criminal vandalism at RAF Brize Norton, Luke Myer, MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, has called for “robust action” to safeguard the UK’s military bases and forces families.
Speaking in Parliament today (24 June 2025), Luke questioned the Minister for the Armed Forces about what steps would be taken to review security across all UK military bases from “extremist threats” in light of the incident. The vandalism saw two RAF Voyager aircraft damaged, an act the Government has described as a “direct attack on national security”.
The Minister responded that the Defence Secretary would commission a review to identify lessons to improve security across the UK defence estate and overseas bases.
