MP Visits The King’s Academy and Laurence Jackson School to celebrate achievements

Luke Myer MP joined students and staff at The King’s Academy in Coulby Newham and Laurence Jackson School in Guisborough today to celebrate their GCSE and Level 1/2 VTQ results. Both schools achieved some of their best results yet, reflecting the hard work and ambition of young people across the area.

Speaking with students about their results and future plans, Luke said:

“Everyone collecting results today should feel proud of the hard work and resilience that has brought them to this moment. These achievements are a real credit to students, their families, and the staff who have supported them. Whether today has brought joy, relief, or a need to rethink your next steps, remember that there are many routes forward and opportunities ahead.”

Luke also praised the commitment of school staff who provide guidance and support to ensure every student has the chance to succeed:

“These results highlight not only the dedication of our young people but also the tireless efforts of teachers and support staff. Behind every success is a team that has gone the extra mile to encourage, inspire, and provide the right support. I want to thank them for everything they do.”

At Laurence Jackson School and The King’s Academy, students celebrated strong performances across a wide range of subjects, with many already securing places in sixth form, college, and apprenticeships. Staff were on hand to provide advice and guidance to any student considering their next steps.

Both schools emphasised the importance of recognising every student’s achievement, whether through exceptional grades or through resilience in overcoming challenges. Results day marked not only a milestone for students but also a reflection of the collective effort of schools and families working together to support young people.
