Luke Myer MP joins Armed Forces Day tributes in Parliament

Armed Forces Day events pay tribute to those who serve and their families

24th June 2025

Luke Myer MP has joined national and local commemorations to mark Armed Forces Week, paying tribute to service personnel, veterans, and their families.

Luke attended the Armed Forces Day flag-raising ceremony in Parliament, standing alongside fellow MPs in honour of the courage and dedication shown by the UK’s Armed Forces. Events will continue throughout the week both nationally and locally, including community celebrations in Redcar and Cleveland this Saturday.

This year’s Redcar & Cleveland Armed Forces Day will feature a 10.30am parade, followed by demonstrations and performances from Cleveland Army Cadets, RAF 2394 East Cleveland Squadron Air Cadets, Redcar Sea Cadets, and a wide range of local groups including The Lipsticks, Redcar Community Choir, the Stokesley Strummers, and Imaginarium Dance Theatre.

Luke said:
“This is a time to honour the courage of those who serve, the families who support them, and the veterans who deserve our ongoing respect and care. Armed Forces Week is a reminder of the extraordinary contribution made by our Forces every day to keep us safe. I am proud to stand with them.”

Armed Forces Day is held annually to celebrate the commitment and sacrifice of service personnel, from those currently serving to veterans and cadets. The local event in Redcar remains one of the largest and best-supported celebrations in the region.
