Luke Myer MP marks 50th surgery in one year

Residents across Middlesbrough South & East Cleveland make their voices heard.

Saturday 26th July 2025 marked Luke Myer MP’s 50th surgery in one year, giving people across Middlesbrough South & East Cleveland the chance to raise issues directly with their MP.

Starting in August last year, Luke has held surgeries in every part of the constituency, including Brotton, Coulby Newham, Loftus, Hemlington, Skelton West, Marton East, Guisborough, Easterside, Nunthorpe, Margrove Park, Stainton & Thornton, Skelton East, Moorsholm, Lingdale, Charltons and Park End & Beckfield. He has also held online surgeries to ensure everyone has the opportunity to speak with him and his team, regardless of their circumstances.

Cases raised have covered everything from getting fallen trees and debris removed by the council, to helping residents with benefit disputes, to securing a child a place at a SEND school. Luke’s team has supported people to solve pension issues, clear up Council Tax disputes, replace stolen bins, and get damp and mould repaired for social housing tenants. They have also supported residents of ‘fleecehold’ estates and answered questions on national policies such as the Assisted Dying Bill.

Luke said: “Holding surgeries is one of the most important parts of my job. Whether it is a small local issue or a life-changing matter, I want people to know my team and I are here to help. We have opened over 4,000 cases so far and won back over £52,000 for residents, and I will keep working hard to make sure everyone’s voice is heard.”

As well as surgeries, Luke and his team have held a Jobs Fair in Loftus and several coffee mornings in Hemlington, Coulby Newham and Marton, with more events planned for the coming months.
