Luke pushes for safer school parking with Road Safety Minister

Luke Myer MP has met Lilian Greenwood, the Minister for Road Safety, to raise concerns brought to him by several schools about parking, congestion and unsafe conditions during drop off and pick up times. These have become some of the most frequently raised issues in recent weeks.

Luke highlighted the different pressures felt across the constituency, from narrow rural roads used for long daily commutes to the busy crossings and junctions closer to town where families often feel exposed at the busiest times of day. He stressed the need for solutions that reflect the experiences schools and parents are sharing with him.

The Minister outlined the Government’s wider plans to improve safety and invest in transport infrastructure. Luke welcomed signs of progress and pressed for local schools and communities to see the benefit of this work.

Luke Myer MP said:

Schools across our area have been clear about the challenges they face with parking and congestion. Families want safe and straightforward journeys at the start and end of the day. I will keep making the case to ministers for practical improvements that help schools and the communities around them.

Luke continues to work with councils, schools and campaign groups as part of his commitment to safer roads and better transport across the constituency.
