Luke Myer MP visits new £26m British Steel site at Skinningrove

26th February 2025

Luke Myer, MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, returned to British Steel Special Profiles in Skinningrove recently to visit the new state-of-the-art Service Centre.

He previously visited the facility while it was under construction last year.

He joined representatives from Community Union to meet workers onsite, as well as holding discussions with senior staff about the current status of the steel industry and attracting more investment to Teesside.

Luke Myer MP said:

“It was great to visit the new £26m state-of-the-art facility at Skinningrove – the single biggest investment in the site in over 30 years, bringing innovation, high-skilled jobs, and global opportunities to our region. I’m impressed by the world-class quality of the components being produced right here in East Cleveland with cutting-edge technology.

“I spoke again with the team here about how we can push for more investment in steel and for more high-skilled jobs in our region. The new Labour Government is committed to ensuring steel remains a thriving industry for generations to come, and I’ll continue banging the drum for our steelworkers in Parliament.”
