Responding to today’s announcement on defence spending, Luke Myer MP said:
“I welcome the Prime Minister’s statement today. This is an historic investment in our national security – returning to the last Labour government’s defence spending level.
This means difficult decisions on intermational development. No MP decides lightly to make cuts to foreign aid, but the reality is we face a stark challenge, and it is critical that Britain steps up to meet this moment.
I hope that all parties can agree. This is an issue which should unite our country.
As I called for last month, I believe it must be British businesses which are supported in defence procurement, and I know Teesside’s defence and innovation sector stands ready to serve.”
