Luke Myer MP Welcomes Major Investment in New Neighbourhood Health Centres

Luke Myer MP has welcomed the government’s announcement of hundreds of new Neighbourhood Health Centres, a major investment that will bring healthcare closer to communities across the country.

The plan will see 250 new local one stop shops, each designed to bring together the right mix of GPs, nurses, dentists and pharmacists under one roof. These centres aim to provide faster, more convenient care, reducing pressure on hospitals by supporting people directly in their communities.

Neighbourhood Health Centres will be prioritised for areas with the lowest healthy life expectancy, ensuring support reaches places where it is most needed.

Luke Myer MP said:
“This investment is an important step in giving people in towns and villages real access to the care they need. Bringing services together locally will help prevent illness, improve treatment and take pressure off our hospitals.

I will keep pushing to make sure communities in Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland see the benefits of this programme.”

Residents are encouraged to keep in touch with local health leaders as plans develop, to understand how a Neighbourhood Health Centre could support ongoing work to shift more healthcare into the community. Luke will be pushing to see this investment coming to the South Tees area to make sure local residents benefit.
