Luke Myer MP has visited the Royal Mail team at Coulby Newham Delivery Office to thank staff for their work serving communities across South Middlesbrough and beyond.

During the visit, Luke heard how the team is currently handling around four times the usual number of parcels in the lead-up to Christmas, covering South Middlesbrough and stretching out into parts of North Yorkshire. Staff explained how they regularly step in to manage additional deliveries, helping to keep services running smoothly when commercial operators are unable to do so.

Speaking after the visit, Luke said:

“It was eye-opening to hear just how much extra work local posties are taking on right now. Time and again, they go above and beyond to keep people, families and local businesses connected. I want to say a huge thank you to all our posties for the job they do.”
