This week, Luke Myer MP secured a commitment from Redcar & Cleveland Council to take further action on a long-running flooding problem affecting a constituent in Guisborough.
After Luke raised the issue directly with the Council’s drainage team, engineers confirmed they were actively investigating the cause, installing a new manhole for access, and working with landowners to reduce future flood risk.
Residents had faced repeated flooding during heavy rain, with water running off nearby land into their property, damaging their garage and even cutting off their heating. Luke has consistently pushed for stronger local flood resilience and clearer communication from councils, and continues to support constituents dealing with the impact of severe weather across East Cleveland.
