School places secured for two Guisborough children

On 29 October, following Luke Myer MP’s intervention with Redcar & Cleveland Council, a family in Guisborough finally secured secondary school places for their two children after nearly half a term out of education. The parents had been trying since July to navigate the admissions process after relocating to the area, but delays and poor communication meant their children were left without a school to attend.

After Luke raised the case directly with the Council, the admissions team contacted the family the same week to offer both children places at Huntcliff Academy. While the school is outside the immediate area, the family told Luke they were relieved that their children would now be able to restart their education after weeks of unnecessary disruption. Luke continues to support families moving into Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland to ensure admissions processes are fair, timely, and accessible for everyone.

Parents experiencing school admissions issues can contact Luke by emailing luke.myer.mp@parliament.uk, visiting the Guisborough constituency office, or booking a face-to-face appointment at lukemyer.uk/surgeries.
