Trinity Catholic College Students Visit Parliament

17 July 2025

Luke Myer MP recently welcomed a group of students from Trinity Catholic College to Parliament, describing them as “a real credit to Middlesbrough.”

The visit covered a wide-ranging discussion, with students raising thoughtful questions on issues such as crime in Hemlington, education, and the challenges and opportunities facing young people today. Luke said he was particularly struck by how engaged and well-informed the students were.

“It’s always encouraging to see young people taking an active interest in the world around them,” he said. “They asked serious, insightful questions about the issues that matter to their communities.”

The session also offered a chance to talk about the role of Parliament and the importance of young voices in shaping the future. Luke thanked the teachers and staff who organised the visit and helped make the day such a success.

“A huge thank you to the staff at Trinity Catholic College. Visits like this really do make a difference, it’s a reminder that politics is about people, and that young people have every right to be heard.”

Luke continues to support efforts to expand civic education and promote political engagement among young people across Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland.
