Luke Myer is delighted to share that 3,722 customers across Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland took part in Asda’s Cashpot for Schools initiative this year, raising an incredible £14,400 for 33 local schools.
This funding will go directly to schools, allowing them to invest in the resources and projects that matter most to their pupils. From classroom materials to extracurricular activities, this initiative ensures that schools have the support they need to enhance children’s education.
Some of the top-earning schools in the area include:
- Skelton Primary School – £1,809.05
- Kilton Thorpe Specialist Academy – £1,269.63
- Park End Primary School – £1,067.77
- Hummersea Primary School – £989.90
- St Peter’s Church of England Primary School – £849.48
Every contribution, no matter the size, has helped make a real difference. Schools across the region will now have extra funds to invest in essential resources, thanks to the generosity of Asda shoppers.
Asda’s Wider Impact in the Community
Luke has been following Asda’s community initiatives closely and has been incredibly impressed by the impact they are having. The Cashpot for Schools initiative has raised over £1.75 million nationally, with up to £7.5 million available for primary schools across the UK. Asda shoppers can continue supporting their chosen schools until the end of November, making a direct difference in their children’s education.
Beyond financial support, Asda is tackling book poverty with their Children’s Book Project. With one in five disadvantaged children in the UK not owning a book, Asda stores have been hosting book drives throughout September, ensuring donated pre-loved books reach families in need.
Additionally, Asda has stepped up to help families facing the cost-of-living crisis with their School Uniform Drive. Stores have been collecting second-hand uniforms to redistribute to families who might struggle with back-to-school costs.
Luke is pleased to see businesses like Asda taking an active role in supporting communities. Whether through fundraising for schools, providing access to books, or helping families with essential supplies, these initiatives are having a tangible impact.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part in Cashpot for Schools and other community projects. If you’d like to get involved or learn more, visit your local Asda store or check out their website.
