Today (21 December 2025) Luke Myer MP attended the annual Loftus Poultry Run this weekend, cheering on 400 runners and supporters for one of East Cleveland’s best loved festive traditions.

The event, hosted by Loftus & Whitby Athletic Club, has been running for more than four decades and draws participants from across the country to take on the course and enjoy the warm welcome East Cleveland is known for.

Luke attended to support his brother Isaac, who was running on the day, and to thank the many volunteers who help make the event possible each year.

Luke Myer MP said:

“A brilliant turnout at the Loftus Poultry Run. It was great to see so many people travelling in, enjoying the beauty of East Cleveland, and getting such a friendly welcome from local people. Huge thanks to Loftus and Whitby A.C, the volunteers, and everyone who took part. Merry Christmas.”

Luke also praised the work of local athletics clubs and community organisers, whose events bring people together and showcase the best of East Cleveland.
