Luke meets Tees Valley officials

Today (23 January 2026) Luke Myer MP visited Tees Valley Combined Authority to meet with officials to press the case for jobs and investment across Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland.

Four hours of discussions covered transport, skills, tourism and jobs, with a clear focus on how the region can scale up what is already working. For East Cleveland, Luke pressed the priorities in his East Cleveland Growth Plan developed with local businesses. For Middlesbrough, conversations focused on the strength and growth potential of clean power, digital and creative industries, and advanced manufacturing.

The meetings were constructive and practical, focused on delivery and opportunity rather than politics, with officials working for the region exploring where progress can be accelerated and barriers removed.

Luke Myer MP said:

“I am grateful to the teams for their time and for engaging seriously with the questions I raised. I had a positive and wide-ranging set of discussions about how we drive jobs and investment right across Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland. From skills and transport to tourism and industry, the focus was on how we build on our strengths and make our area the best it can be. I will have more to say on this soon.”
