Luke visited the new Clean Energy Education Hub at Redcar & Cleveland College this week.

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council worked in partnership with the College on the facility, which is developing new skills training routes to help local people get into the green jobs of the future.

It has specialist facilities for training in carbon capture, retrofit, solar, heat pumps, EV charging, and other industrial mechanical and maintenance routes.

Luke spoke with College Principal Jason Faulkner, who explained that the Hub specialises in renewable industry training for school leavers, apprentices and adults, with strong partnerships with local employers. It includes a state-of-the-art carbon capture rig and other specialist equipment.

Luke said: “This is a great facility for local people – providing the skills and training to access the good-quality green jobs of the future. It’s a credit to Jason and the team that the College is going from strength to strength. We’re looking forward to continuing to work in partnership with the College to grow these opportunities for young people.”
