Luke visits Tees Components to champion local industry

Luke Myer MP recently visited Tees Components in North Skelton, where he met with Managing Director Sharon Lane. During his visit, Luke praised the company’s significant contribution to the local economy and discussed the Government’s progressive policies on energy, industry, and employment.Tees Components is a prominent player in the precision engineering sector, employing around 60 people locally and exporting White Gill Thrusters globally. The company also plays a crucial role in the defence and nuclear energy sectors, making it essential to both regional and national industries.

Luke and Sharon discussed important topics such as skills policy, apprenticeships, and the need for robust infrastructure investment – a key focus of the Labour Growth Group, of which Luke is a founding member. He also highlighted the government’s Defence Industrial Strategy, which aims to direct investment toward British industries to reinforce national stability and strengthen the economy.

Reflecting on his visit, Luke Myer MP commented:

“It was a privilege to visit Tees Components and meet Sharon and her incredible team. The level of skill and innovation here in North Skelton is truly world-class. Companies like Tees Components are the backbone of our economy, providing high-quality jobs and advancing our manufacturing capabilities. Their commitment to training the next generation of engineers is particularly inspiring and underscores the importance of investing in future talent. I will continue to advocate for policies that support industry, protect jobs, and ensure a prosperous future for our region.”

Last week, Luke also raised the issue of British manufacturing and skills in Parliament. His intervention is available to view here.
