Luke Myer MP has shown his support for the Royal Marines by tabling a formal motion in Parliament on their 360th anniversary.
Established on 28 October 1664, the Royal Marines have a distinguished history as one of the UK’s elite amphibious fighting forces, recognised for their skill, resilience, and dedication.
Luke Myer MP’s motion has been endorsed by cross-party MPs including Conservatives, Lib Dems and Labour. It pays tribute to all current and former Marines’ who have defended the UK’s values, both on land and at sea. The motion also calls on the Government to recognise the Marines’ continued vital operations as an elite amphibious fighting force.
Reflecting on the contributions of Royal Marines from his own constituency, Luke Myer MP said:
“The 360th anniversary of the Royal Marines is a proud moment to reflect on the courage and commitment of all who have served, including those from Middlesbrough, East Cleveland, and right across Teesside. Their sacrifices and dedication to our country are deeply valued, and they inspire respect and gratitude from the whole community. I am honoured to pay tribute to our local Royal Marines and to join in celebrating the Corps’ remarkable legacy.”
